Favorite class
My favorite class thus far at Penn is Introduction to Law and Legal Procedure taught by Vincent Buccola. The course was discussion based and I felt as though I not only learned a lot about law, but also got the opportunity to work on developing my thought process and making clear arguments. Additionally, Professor Buccola is incredible and made learning intro law very interesting.
Something that I learned and was able to apply at Penn and Wharton
At Penn, I have really been able to utilize my leadership skills and take initiative when I find something important. I have had countless opportunities to be a leader whether in an academic or social space. For example, I felt it was necessary for the Black Wharton Undergraduate Association to have an Ivy League-wide business conference, and I worked to make that a reality.
Something unexpected that I learned at Wharton
When I came to Wharton I thought the environment would be tense and the students would be at each other’s necks in an effort to win the competition for success. However, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The people at Wharton obviously all want to be successful and work very hard, but for the most part, everyone is helpful, kind, and generous.
What I want to do with my business education
Although perhaps a cliché, I truly want to change the world for the better. I hope to use my education to start an environmentally friendly business after I gain some years of experience working in corporate America. Closer to the end of my career, I plan to open an orphanage in Jamaica to give back to my family’s country.
