Taking home the 2016 Barry & Marie Lipman Family Prize was a big win for Soccer Without Borders.
Administered by Penn through the Wharton School, the prize connects organizations on the cusp of great change with the resources, skills, and manpower to bring their ground-breaking solutions to new places and problems around the globe.
Soccer Without Borders uses the world’s most popular sport as a unifier to provide newcomer refugee, asylee, and immigrant youth with the tools to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success.
As the world faces the largest global displacement crisis since World War II, the prize will enable this unique organization to expand the impact and influence of their ideas at a critical time.
Honorees Namati and Hope Enterprise Corporation will also join this burgeoning community of change-makers and thought-leaders.
Namati is building a global movement of grassroots legal advocates who work with communities to advance justice, and Hope Enterprise Corporation is working to strengthen communities, build assets, and improve lives in economically distressed communities in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Watch this video to learn more about all three organizations and the impact the Lipman Family Prize network has made and continues to make in effecting social change around the world.
