Bill Bole returned to Penn in January 2024 as Chief Advancement Officer for Wharton External Affairs. Previously, he held two leadership positions at Penn Medicine Development and Alumni Relations, leading the teams for the Perelman School of Medicine and the major gifts team for the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Bill also worked in a major gifts officer role in Penn’s Central Development and Alumni Relations Office during the Making History Campaign.

Prior to returning to Penn in January, Bill led the fundraising team at Lehigh University from 2017-2023 and served as Interim Vice President during 2023. In that role, he oversaw all aspects of engagement, fundraising, and career and professional development, leading a team of 130.

A former history and philosophy teacher with a passion for storytelling and education, Bill has 25 years of experience in higher education and healthcare philanthropy.
